Prints!

Bonjour!

So, I get a lot of people asking me where they might be able to pick up some of my older work, or if there are any other places, other than my own store, that stock my work. My answer to them is always the same, “Go and look at www.postersandtoys.com! Those guys are the shit!”…. or words to that effect.

Were it not for Mitch at P&T, there is a good chance that I wouldn’t be doing what I do today (I mean drawing for a living, not sitting in my pyjamas at 10.35 on a Monday morning. Although the two things do go hand in hand). From a very early point, I was offered the support and the ability to make poster and prints, that otherwise would not have been an option. I remain eternally grateful.

Anyways, enough of the back patting, here are some prints and links you can still grab.

Click on the images to be linked to the store. They are all lovingly screen printed.

Grab some, while you still can.

Speak soon,

Drew

Summer is coming!

I’m not sure if you, like me, have noticed the first hints that the seasons are changing. It’s been changeable, but I’ve definitely felt a bit of spring in the air. With this in mind, you may want to start preparing your summer wardrobe. As luck would have it, two shirts I’ve recently designed are now up for grabs.

First off, my old friends at Disturbia kindly asked me to design a shirt for their new line. I did this for them:

They altered the colours a bit, but you can buy the men’s version HERE!  or, for the girls, you can grab one HERE!

As I’m sure you will agree, It’s a must for any fast food loving conspiracy theorists in your life!

I was also really pleased to be asked by Shirt Cult to contribute to their ever growing collection of shirts. I did this:

You can grab this little beauty HERE!

Go and grab a new shirt for when the sun starts shining!

Hope you are all well,

Drew.

GEMLINS!

It would appear that over the past few weeks, I’ve been having a few email complications. Forwarded messages from my @drewmillward.com addresses have not been received. If you have tried to contact me, and not had a reply, please try and resend the email. Hopefully the issues are now sorted out.
I wasn’t being rude, but the gremlins in the wires have eaten all your correspondence.
Sorry for any problems that may have caused.

FRONT!

Last month I was asked to take part in a show that Front magazine were organising. Not one to turn down an opportunity to show work along side some of the best illustrators working today, I jumped at the chance.

Each artist was assigned an image to base their piece on. Most took a few liberties with it. Myself included.

Listen to Black Sabbath! Drink tea! Look at boobs! Worship Satan!

All the prints from the show are now for sale, and you can pick up my A2 screen print for just £30 HERE!

A Flash In The Pan

A few weeks back, my friend, and fellow penman, Tom J. Newell invited me down to Sheffield to paint for the night. It was all part of Pub Scrawl, and took place at The Harley. It was a lot of fun.

Here’s a video of us doing our thing.

Narrows

Hello folks!

Just a very quick update. About a recent little project.

My friends in Narrows are hitting the road again in a few weeks. And, as has become a bit of a custom, I’ve done them a new shirt design to take with them. I wanted to get away from the previous few shirts I’ve done for them, and approach it in a much more stripped back way, and come up with something much more graphic and logo like, but maintaining my ‘style’. The basis for the design comes from a logo from the 1940′s. I shamelessly plundered elements from that, and added in my own parts, to come up with the final design.

If you are in the US, and anywhere near one of the shows, you should definitely go. I’ve heard the new album, and it is a leap forward from their first. Well worth experiencing them live.

The Black Keys

Hello cyber folks!

How are you this fine day? Well, I would hope. I’m pretty bloody cold, if I’m honest. Had the loft insulated the other day, and I’m not yet feeling the benefit.

Still, enough about my current climate, you probably came hear for news about my scribblings, not my well-being, so, without further ado, I’d like to direct you to the images below. They are all of a set of posters I was recently commissioned to do for The Black Keys, for their two nights in Manchester. I’ve been asked a number of times to work on posters for the band, but the timing had always been bad, this time, as luck would have it, the planets were aligned.

I’m a big fan of working on diptychs, and always relish the opportunity to bust out some duel image fun.

I’m happy with the outcome.

The printing for these was handled by the good folks at Parliament of Feathers.

They sold out really quickly, and are now all sold out. Sorry if you missed them.

Bye for now!

Drew

Art of Front

Hey folks!

Just a quick note to say that if you pick up a copy of the new issue of Front, you will find an interview and feature on me. Which is nice.

As well as that little bit of press coverage, the nice folks at Front asked me to take part in an art show, along side some good friends, and more importantly some of the best illustrators/artists/doodlers this country has to offer. It’ll probably be a right good knees up, and if I can make it down, I will be there. It doesn’t take a lot of convincing to get me to go and drink at The Black Heart.

Steel City Scrawl!

Yeah, so, my premier amigo Tom J. Newell has kindly invited me to join him as part of the Pub Scrawl event, this Friday. It promises to be an awesome evening. It really highlights the wealth of talent and creativity Sheffield has to offer.

It’s certainly one of the best concepts for an exhibition/party/happening I’ve ever encountered, and I’m happy to be involved, in a small way.

If the prospect of us alone doesn’t tempt  you out of your houses, then the rest of the line-up just might. I just hope I have time to get around to some of the other boozers:

Ian Anderson @ The University Arms
Tom J Newell @ The Harley
Lord Bunn @ Bath Hotel
Tado @ The Bowery
Warp Films @ The Washington
Sarah Abbott @ The Forum
Faunagraphic @ Frog and Parrot
Geo @ The Great Gatsby
Fine and Dandy @ Bungalows and Bears
Nick Deakin @ DaDa (Old Trippets)

You should come along, hang out and drink a few ales.

Drew

Welcome to the future!

2012! Really?! Hard to be live isn’t it?

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet over the past few weeks. The end of last year was a bit hectic, but I’m now, just about, settled in my new abode. Having escaped the urban sprawl, I’m getting used to a much quieter and slower pace of village/rural life. I have to say, I’m bloody loving it so far. If you are passing, you will have to pop in for a cup of tea. Ring ahead though, and I’ll make sure I’ve got some biscuits in.

Anyway, I thought I would do a bit of catching up on the work I managed to shoehorn in between moving house and festive entertaining.

About a week before Christmas I got an email from Alyson, who works with the Mountain Goats. As a big fan of the band, it was a job I jumped at, in spite of the rather pressing deadline. I’m always fond of creating visuals for bands that are in some way incongruous to their music or other aesthetics. So, when the brief came through from John, it was nice to see we were on the same page. Although a dragon-like serpent god, devouring it’s own tail, wouldn’t be the first image that sprung to mind upon hearing the music of the Mountain Goats, that is, nonetheless, what was requested. John obviously had a pretty clear idea of what he wanted before I started this, so it was just a matter of bringing it to life.

The process of creating the poster, and shirt was about as easy a project as you could hope for. Revisions were minimal, and by all accounts, everyone is very happy with the outcome.

I believe that the poster, and accompanying shirt will be up for grabs on the upcoming US tour.

Since I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus, in terms of drawing, last week being the first few days in the new office, I needed to get my mind, and hands in gear. Since the Tribes poster I did got such a great reaction, I thought I would launch into the new year by producing a piece that accompanied that in some way. As a bit of a warm up exercise for 2012, I’m pretty happy with the outcome. With any luck, it may end up as a limited print run, at some point in the coming months.

Hope you like it.

Carrying on the ’2012 warm up’, I was asked to contribute to a little ‘#drawhellboy’ project that is being organised by James Howard has been organising via Twitter. Since it seemed like a decent enough distraction, and James is such a good egg, I figured I would sketch something out. Since I don’t know when to leave something well alone, I ended up taking it further than I had wanted, but I was having too much fun with it to stop.

Hopefully I’ve not offended any hardcore Hellboy fans by taking a few liberties with my interpretation of the character.

Right! well, I’m currently wrestling with a couple of Black Keys posters that need fnishing up asap, so I should probably stop waffling on in this blog and get back to the drawing board.

Happy new year folks!

Drew

p.s. The offer of tea and biscuits will remain open throughout the year.
